We were recently in Belize and did a day trip to Tikal, Guatemala to see the Mayan ruins. We stayed at the Casa Blanca hotel in San Ignacio, which was good in itself. We stayed at DuPlooy’s in Belize's Cayo District for 4 nights. Our first full-day tour was to Tikal. Phillip was a wonderful driver – he graciously stopped along the way a number of times to point out special birds to some other guests who were also avid birders. If you are a parent wanting to take your kid to tikal, i have one tip, be very carefull with your kids because there are more than 100+ foot drops.
