Our guide, Garceth Cunampio, who grew up in an Embera village within the Panama rainforest, was the best and most eco-conscious tour guide we have encountered over the past twelve years of travel in Central America. We spent two days with Garceth, an independent guide and tour operator reachable through his site emberatourspanama.com. The first day was a hike along... more

My husband and I just came back from Panama. We stayed at the Fabulous Gamboa Resort, a five star all inclusive resort nestled in the middle of the Ranforest. One of the tour we took during our stay (nov 17 to 25 2008) was the trip to the Embera Village. We did not regret that decision a minute. From a... more

Came back from Panama City on November 1, after a week stay. I have been there before, and thought I had seen everything of interest...(I was wrong) I decided to take the Embera Indian Village Tour provided by Guardiola Tours, and had a fantastic time, and learned alot. The flora and fauna was amazing ,and entering the village was like... more

I took advantage of Anne Gordon's tour to the Embera Village whilst in PC in November, having read the other recent reviews. I left booking the tour until the day before I arrived, but Anne was still able to fit me in at a very reasonable cost of $95 for a full day. She picked me up from my hotel,... more

My girlfriend and I went on this tour and booked it through a website, emberavillagetours.com. We were picked up at our hotel by Anne who is actually married to one of the mebers of the village. She drove us about an hour to the boat. We then got in a dugout canoe which was driven by 2 members of the... more

The most amazing experience. In fact, one of the top 3 things I've ever done in my life. Amazing amazing amazing. National Geographic could never do this paradise justice. If you are an adventurous soul, skip the touristy parts of Panama & see an altogether different way of life instead. Anne was the perfect guide, since she really was bringing... more

My 27 year old daughter and I went on a one week trip from Orlando to Panama during the first week of October, 2008. We visited El Valle, where we went horseback riding, Boquete, where we went whitewater rafting, and we also spent a night in the Embera village of Parara Puru on the Chagres River, escorted by Anne Gordon,... more

I went to Panama city in June to teach a summer course and I took a tour in Embera Indian village with Rudy. It was a great experience to see how native Indian villagers live in a self-sufficient way in remote forest in Panama. I was impressed by the healthy and happy glows in their faces and was amazed to... more

On our first trip to Panama, we thought the highlight of our trip would be a passage through the locks aboard our friends' sailboat. However, our friends had more in store: they connected us to Anne Gordon for a day trip into the jungle to visit an Embera village. We rode up river for about an hour in a dugout... more

What better way to visit an Embera village than with a family member? Anne Gordon's tour was great. We traveled to the village by canoe. Ate lunch prepared in a thatched hut on stilts. Chatted with the villagers, got a temporary hagua tattoo, checked out the village crafts...the baskets and masks were superb. Highly recommended. more
