This hotel is a good base for the physically fit to explore all the sites of Malta; you must be fit because Malta is extremely hilly and this hotel is at the top of one of them. There is a bus stop outside, and when you have mastered the local very accurate bus time table the islands are you oyster.... more

Booked with Malta Direct. A gem of a hotel - OK, a little faded but still with appreciable grandeur and style. Doesn't attract families with youngsters, so a complete absence of noisy screaming children. Tall, marbled lobby, relaxation areas provide a cool, easygoing atmosphere ... half close your eyes and you are back in the days of the British Raj.... more

this hotel was truly a great find, reading previous reviews we were a little apprehensive to say the least, but we were pleasantly supprised, the entrance hall was like something out of an old film set with marble flooring and two magnificent staircases. we arrived late evening, unpacked our bags after finding our room which overlooked the pool area and a... more

One week stay at the Imperial Hotel, Malta, booked through local travel agent using "Sunspot" tour operator for single traveller with walking disability. Accommodation Half-Board flying with Air Malta I had read the mixed reviews of the Imperial before travelling there and was pleasantly surprised and to be fair the hotel exceeded my expectations. Most of the other comments on... more

This hotel was horrible. I would recommend it to backpackers paying no more than ten euros a night B&B [and then only if they were not too fussy about the breakfast]. The room was dirty. There was no undersheet on the mattress. The covers were stained. The 'air conditioning' was old and hardly functioned. The bathroom window would not open.... more

On arrival at night by taxi through the winding streets we were unimpressed at the seemingly isolated place we were to stay as we looked up at its grim, grey facade. Upon entering the huge, marble, double sweeping staircase was at odds with our expectations. The reception desk, high and wooden, was like something from an old film. It really... more

Founded in 1865, this hotel has preserved many of its original features and still evokes the British Empire in its interior decoration though it also possesses modern additions like a courtyard swimming pool. The location at the end of one street undergoing massive renovation and in the midst of other narrow twisty ones might dismay people looking for a beach... more

The Imperial Hotel experience is much as described by our fellow travellers. Indeed the individual room furnishings are a little aged, water pressure sometimes erratic. However it still functions as a relic of long-forgotten 19th century splendor with it's wide corridors, magnificent staircase, antique mirrors and marble fireplaces. Certainly it is one of the most quirky Hotels we have visited and... more

The entrance lobby and lounge of this hotel must once have looked splendid. There is still great potential there, but to me it was faded grandeur. The bedroom, although clean, appeared grubby (a worm on the wall from outside did not help). The en suite bathroom had no door and the shower unit was of the rubber hose/mixer tap variety.... more
