All the positive reviews that have previously been written are true : the hotel is really unique and is absolutely marvellous. All the rooms are different from one another but all those that I've seen (spying during the cleaning) were absolutely beautiful. The breakfast is probably the best I've ever had in an hotel and is served in very charming... more

Wonderful hotel, brilliant staff, stunning hotel , our room was clean, beautifully decorated (the white room) - a real experience ! Breakfast was divine - big selection and again, excellent service. The helpful staff were happy to answer all our questions, recommend nearby restaurants and attractions. I cant wait to get back to Vienna and reserve a room at the... more

My sister and I stayed at the Altstadt Hotel in Vienna for 2 nights. While it's off the main tourist area, that can also be an advantage. It had a real neighbourhood feel to it. The room we'd originally booked wasn't available so we were upgraded to the so-called Owner's Suite, which had a large under-furnished living room and separate... more

This hotel was very nice, however, my first impression was that of disappointment as the entry hall was rather drab and in need of some sprucing up (carpet was worn on the stairway). Also, the neighborhood was not as nice as I thought it would be. However, it got better from there once we went to our room. It was... more

Everything that the positive reviewers say about this hotel is true. It is a beautiful place, decorated with excellent taste, and designed with a sense of true comfort. Our junior suite (#19) was a huge room with enormous sofa, armchair, king-size bed, and a CD-player (and a TV but we don't watch TV on holiday). The bathrooom was stunning, with... more

From start to finish an excellent experience. The reception is tremendously friendly and offers help and advice on almost any tourist needs. I have to admit that at first I was a bit unsure as the suite did not correspond at all to the current hotel stereotype, so Anglo-Saxon travellers may have a problem. While we didn't stay in one... more

We stayed four nights here. On previous visits to Vienna I have always stayed in the inner city but - thanks to the Altstadt - now know the old artists quarter of Vienna better. The staff are brilliant - from the breakfast waitresses to the reception. Genuinely helpful and welcoming. I noted there were several single travellers. The reason is... more

We spent 9 glorious days using the Altstadt as our "home" in Vienna, walking all over the city, researching where my wife's father grew up. The staff overwhelmed us with their generousity and desire to make our stay as perfect as it turned out to be. They upgraded us to a huge upper floor suite, which was private, and quiet,... more

Just got back from a wonderful 5 day break staying at the Altstadt. What a great hotel, I can't understand some of the negative reviews. We found the hotel charming, the accommodation superb, the food varied and of good quality and the service was speedy and efficient. The attitude of the staff was that nothing was too much trouble. If... more

My wife and I stayed here for three nights during our recent trip to Central Europe. We paid $185 Euro per night including breakfast. I thought the hotel was well worth the price. The front desk clerks, Petra and Teresa, were extraordinarily helpful with everything from restaurant recommendations and reservations to train reservations. We stayed in the "White Suite" which... more
