We, (me, husband and children aged 3 and 7 months) stayed at the Elmfield in September 2008 and had a fabulous time. It is the most family friendly hotel I know, thanks to owners Zoe and Matt (who have 2 boys). The restaurant even has a playpen with toys for babies - how brilliant is that mums?! The food is... more

Our family took a little road trip from london to cornwall and stayed at several hotels on the way. This hotel wasn't the biggest, or the most fancy, but we certainly had the nicest time there. The owners where really nice, and the food fantastic. Our kids really liked the pool, and we liked chatting to Matt behind the bar... more

Hectic jobs and little summer sun, took my husband and I to North Devon for a short break. We booked the Elmfield because of it's lovely looking website - but where a bit doubtful due to the clever photography. We where very pleaseantly surprised. Our room was fantastic, althought the batrhoom was a bit small, the breakfast was fantastic, although... more

We had a super 2 night stay here. Really comfy bed and pillows. Great pool. Wonderful food. Very friendly owners who were so accomodating and gave us lots of useful advice. Our 2 year old was made very welcome and loved the play room. We borrowed DVD's off the owners and sat and watched them in bed whilst our girl... more

My husband, 11 month old son and I just escaped for a quick night away from work and home in Bideford. After enjoying the warm welcome, a swim in the indoor pool, an excellent meal and some convivial company in the bar we have returned feeling as if we really did have a holiday...despite only staying a night! There are... more

Having just returned from a four night stay at this wounderful hotel I feel compelled to write this review. We went with our two small children (aged 2 and 1 ) and the owners were actually pleased to see them ! We were made to feel extremely welcome and the children were very well catered for. The food was excellent,... more

We were booked into the honeymoon suite, this room is right by the front door,so you dont feel complete privacy, also your room window is overlooking the path down to the swimming pool, so people making their way down to the pool or back from, can look straight into the room. The room itself is lovely although we were dissappointed... more

What a wonderful little hotel. Recently changed hands and now owned by a very friendly couple from London who have revamped the whole place. We knew we'd chosen well when we were greeted with a pot of tea and biscuits. We selected The Elmfield because it had an indoor swimming pool. The pool was really warm and with the jacuzzzi... more

Had a great stay with our family of four at The Elmfield. We were greeted by Zoe with a cup of tea and then shown to our rooms. We stayed in the Family suite which was wonderful. We had two separate rooms connected by a private hallway (can be locked to the outer hall). So our children had their privacy... more

Really fantastic hotel with excellent facilities for a weekend away. Made to feel very welcome throughout our stay. The breakfast was very good, and the hotel in a good location for the local town of Illfracombe, which is in walking distance. The owners Matt and Zoe were very hospitable, and we would definitely recommend the hotel for a few days... more
