Just got back from our 1 week vacation. Don't bother reading any other reviews. Here's the facts - strictly objective observations. BEACH - Not ideal for swimming (lots of coral) but beautiful aqua blue water. Coral makes it great for snorkeling (right at the hotel beach). Bring bread or egg to attract the fish. Lots of sun shades available. The... more

I would like to talk specifically on the issue. What I did not like at the resort: 1. The entertainment is more then awful. Some lazy girls trying to dance with no skills at all. 2. The kids activities are equal to zero. No shows for kids, no dance no activities at all. 3. The Buffet restaurant is bad. Food... more

Nov. 17-Dec. 1 2008 We stayed at Bahia Cayacoa last year for 2 weeks and fell in love with Samana. The staff and customer service was beyond anything we’ve experienced before. While there, we had the opportunity to go to Las Terrenas and decided that this year we would spend 2 weeks at El Portillo. After a 14 hour delay,... more

Although it was the rainy season, and it rained 4 days out of the 7, I would say it was the best vacation ever. The staff were so friendly, the resort beautiful, the food to die for, clean, comfortable, you can want for nothing. I ate at the seafood restaurant, and the gourmet, book early as it is hard to... more

Just returned from a week in the Dominican. Travelled with Conquest Vacations from Nov 8- Nov 15th 2008. We did not know which hotel we would be staying at, i had hoped it would have been the Gran Bahia Prinicpe Cayacoa, Samana as the pics looked much nicer, but we ended up at the Gran Bahia Prinicipe El Portillo, Samana.... more

We just came back from El Portillo (Nov 1-Nov 8).We booked our vacation on selloffvacations.com for Bahia Principe Roulette. Everything was great: the beach, weather, food, and people. We were called at home the night before leaving and told that our hotel is Cayacoa but when we got in Samana we were on the list for El Portillo. We weren't... more

Booked via First Choice 16th - 30th October. Encountered no problems with the transfer (however some in the party did as there were not enough seats on the air conditioned bus), we were greeted by the very lovely Madina. There are pot holes in the road that slowed the journey. The resort is very well kept. The room service was... more
