I booked this hotel because of its great rate for the DC area and the "claimed" closeness to all DC must see sites. I booked this hotel through expedia, who had rated it rather mediocre, and have never been led astray by expedia recomendations until today. The hotel is in the middle of the GHETTO!! For the price, this hotel is a good deal, with the caveat that it is not in a very attractive part of town and it can be difficult to get a cab from the hotel depending on time of day. We are regular users of the choice hotels and have had mostly positive experiences. When we contacted them with our concerns about this they were unwilling to help. This hotel has been renovated but is still somewhat dark and uninviting. inside. The staff at the desk (on any shift) doesn't do much to make one feel welcome at all. One... more
