I've stayed at Hotel Rouge twice. The amenities are totally in-line with the price (minimal, nothing special), but not at all what the description would have you believe. On my most recent trip, I stayed in one of the "Chill" rooms that supposedly came with two flat screens, a Wii or a Playstation (my choice), and full access to the... more

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Rouge 12/29-12/31. We booked the hotel based on reviews on this site and prior experiences with other Kimpton hotels. We also chose this hotel because we wanted to stay somewhere hip, but not too pretentious. Don't let the drab exterior fool you. The interior is bright and well-decorated. We arrived late on... more

We stayed at the Hotel Rouge on December 12, 2008 and could not have had a better experience. We walked in the door after valeting our car, and was told it was complimentary happy hour and handed a glass of red wine! (which was more than appealing after fighting Friday night traffic in D.C.) We then realized we had left... more

We really liked this hotel. We received a good rate. The staff was overall very friendly, except for the guy at the bar (it WAS Thanksgiving, however!). The food was good, however, in the lounge. Staff were also very helpful. They had a wine tasting hour, which was nice. The room was big, and I had the feeling there were... more

We had been planning a trip to DC and NYC so this was the 1st leg. Don the GM had emailed us a week before due to the fact I am in a power chair we wanted bigger room but didn't need to be wheelchair accessible. We arrived at about 7pm and staff greeted us at the curb and where... more

Stayed just one night. Had a corner room on the 3rd floor--nice and quiet. Bed was comfortable. The room clearly had seen better days (e.g., peeling paint) but overall it was OK. Chief complaint: the waitress at the hotel cafe, who clearly felt put upon to have to take my breakfast order. She was so rude that I told her... more

I stayed at the Rouge for 6 nights, as I was in DC for work. There were some problems with my room/s, but all sorted out by the hotel staff. Next time I go to DC, I'll try out another hotel - just to see if others nearby are better. My first room faced the front of the building and... more

This review is from a woman's perspective and I have stayed at several hotels for work and play and understand that this is a small "boutique hotel." 2 of us stayed at the Hotel Rouge this past weekend and it was just ok. We were 2 females and we were staying for the Howard Univ. Homecoming events in the area.... more

I am so pleased to see the kind words about our friendly staff. We have several different room type configurations that may be more appealing to women traveling together. Our guest rooms are extra large and we are one of the most popular hotels in DC for "Girls Weekend" getaways. Mark Jennings General Manager

First off let me just say I wish there were half stars in the rating because The Rouge was more than just above average but it is very hard for me to say a hotel is EXCELLENT. That being said. We arrived on a Sunday, mid-day and were taken care of immediately. We were in our room within minutes after... more
