My husband and I live in the inner city, devoid of grass and trees, so Hotel Atitlan really gave us a chance to feel human again. We fell in love with this oasis the moment we arrived from the hair-raising and stomach-churning drive from Guatemala City. What can I say? The gardens were absolutely beautiful, and after two days, I... more

After the hustle bustle of Guatemala City and Antigua, this was a welcome respite...and the view is simply to die for! Our family stayed here for 2 nights and we wish we could have extended it a day or two. The rooms were clean and spacious with updated bathrooms, nice toiletries and small patios for sitting outside and enjoying the... more

Little to add from the other reviews here - location is incredible and views are breath-taking. Hotel is ok - clean but old fashioned, breakfast is ok as it's a buffet and you can tailor your meal, however the rest of the food is pretty appalling. Don't eat at the restaurant for dinner - but chicken sandwiches and basic lunch... more

Best location and ambiance of any hotel I've ever seen. Located directly on Lake Atitlan, the grounds are immaculately kept with gardens and footpaths. From the restaurant or the pool and infinity hot tub, the views of volcanoes across the lake are incredible. A little more pricey than some of the hotels in Panajachel but well worth the little extra... more

All the positive comments by others about the gardens and grounds of the property are absolutely true. Very beautiful and the lobby, hallways and common areas are a work of art with many antiques, textiles, paintings, etc. We loved our suite #222 with corner windows, king bed, fireplace (which we used as it was a bit cool) and nice balcony... more

The review below from Frenchtouchfrance is largely accurate. This is a rather difficult hotel to assess because it has two absolutely stunning virtues - the garden and the wider setting, both extravagantly beautiful, making this a destination hotel. The amazing garden, largely the creation of the hotel’s owner, an American named Sue, is evidently modeled on the classic English cottage... more

We stayed in this hotel for 6 nights ,we had two rooms adjacent our 3 children were in the other room, but the door to communicate was closed and it was impossible during the entire stay to obtain a key to open it . We asked a baby cote for our smaller baby 1 year old. They charged us 20... more

You will read many, many positive reviews about this hotel, but they won't be able to paint a picture of exactly how beautiful it is. The setting on the lake, the views, and the lush, huge, manicured gardens all make your stay worthwhile. Add to that the fact that the service is excellent and the food in the restaurant is... more

A room with a wood burning fireplace and a view over the most beautiful lake in Guatemala. A restaurant serving excellent food and the best onion soup this side of Toulouse. Excellent cocktails served in the jacuzzi on the terrace. And a garden that contains a complete gamut of both tropical and temperate plants and flowers. Looking forward to going... more

I booked the Hotel Atitlan for my sister and brother in law, as a wedding gift. They had their honeymoon this december. Her feedback was the following: Beautiful hotel, one of the most amazing views of the Lake Atitlan, just astonishing natural beauty. The hotel staff was very nice, pleasant and attentive. Decoration was as promoted, a Colonial Hacienda style,... more
