I am from Alton and had visisted my parents for the weekend. Growing up here, the Days Inn had been a Ramada and was respected...That is not the case anymore. Came to the Alton area for the weekend. Had always stayed at Days Inn chain with no incident; nice pool, continental breakfast, clean, etc. However, this weekend a huge exception. We were in Alton for a Wedding and had six rooms booked . My first impression was dark and dank. The halls were dimly lit possibly to conceal the filth and there are no directional signs for the area we were staying. Warning, Do Not Stay Here! Their advertisment states renovated, but I don't know when. First of all, we go to check in at 3pm, they tell us our room will not be ready for 2 hours.
