I was really excited to stay at the Metropole because it's always listed as the best hotel in Hanoi. Upon arrival, we were told our room would not be ready for 2 hours. So we left our bags and headed into the city. When we were finally able to check in, we were very pleased with the design and layout... more

There is no question that the Metropole is a beautiful property. We stayed at the newly-renovated wing, and it was really nice. The room was renovated to resemble the style and period of the hotel, and I had no quibble with any aspect of the room at all. The hotel is also centrally located, and I found it easy to... more

We stayed the the Metropole for 3 days in december. We really enjoyed our stay. The staff is very nice, the room was great and the breakfast was wonderful! It is very well located. It was a bit noisy at night since it is located close to a fun fair and a square. more

We stayed many times in Hanoi and tried many hotels. The colonial era Sofitel Metropole is the most famous place to stay in town. Also one of the most expensive, but... The Sofitel Metropole has a quality in service, room amenties, food, public spaces, etc. that would be charge at least the double in Europe / America. For people seeking... more

The Sofitel is a gorgeous hotel. The public spaces are inviting, including the pool and restaurants. And the service was first class. We ate breakfast at both restaurants, and the buffet was one of the most delicious meals we enjoyed during our trip. The food was wonderful, varied, and abundant. The location is excellent. Very convenient to the lake, Old... more

The sofitel metropole is an excellent choice when visiting Hanoi. It is approx 5 mins walk from The French Quarter and the Old town. We arrived and where checked in with great ease, we had selected a room in the Opera WIng as they looked a lot brighter, We hadn't been told that there was work being carried out by... more

Property –fantastic Grand Dame of old Hanoi is one of, if not the, most beautiful hotels in South East Asia. Splendid old school details, perfectly restored [or preserved] antiques and art and a colonial era feel in the lobbies, bars and rooms make this a fantastic place to sleep….even if you can only stay one night. Rooms – large with... more

I am not sure why anyone would post a review saying that the staff was rude or arrogant. My experience was exactly the opposite. From the moment I was greeted by the driver at the airport, the staff went out of their way to offer friendly greetings and meet every need. Please don't let anyone tell you differently. This is... more

What can I say about the Metropole that hasn't been said? Best hotel ever. By the time we got to the Metropole, our family of 5 was really tired. A long day of airport delays in Saigon. We were glad to finally get there. And boy was I not disappointed. It was what I expected and more. Our tour guide... more

Probably my favorite hotel I've ever stayed in. Was in the Opera Wing with a beautiful modern, brand new room that overlooked the interior courtyard so there was no traffic noise. Absolutely recommended. more
