Sri Sunari is a gem of a place. As a young single woman traveling through Asia for the first time, I was nervous about working out the details of my stay and chose this place only because of the stellar TripAdvisor reviews. I ended up having the best time of my life. Not only was Nyoman Astawa prompt with his... more

We had a great stay at Sri Sunari Guesthouse. All the good comments mentioned below can be confirmed by us. We actually found the guesthouse through tripadvisor.com. The guesthouse is located just outside the centre of Ubud, which we found very positive. It's only a short walk of hardly 10 minutes. The guesthouse is runned by the very friendly and... more

We stayed at Sri Sunari for 3 nights during our 7 days of honeymoon in Bali: Frankly speaking it was not our first choice initially. We had wanted to stay at Tegal Sari or Alam Shanti, but it turned out they were all fully booked 1 month ahead. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise though; we had... more

A great little spot with 4 rooms in the rice fields with a beautiful pool and a gracious, friendly host--Nyoman and his family. I stayed in one of the rooms downstairs. The front porch served as my 'living room' with a couch, a chair and a table. The bedroom was nicely furnished with Balinese artwork and wood. Tile floors. Good... more

We were driving around on a scooter taking pix in amazing Ubud area and got lost (getting lost is probably the best way to take great pictures;-) We then looked for a place to stay in Ubud City which we couldn't find. We drove through some forests and rice field and suddenly I stopped the scooter. I saw this stone... more

Management response from

My wife and I are co-owners of Sri Sunari. We have known our manager, Nyoman Astawa and his family for 20 years. They are among the most generous and delightful people anyone will ever know and I am grateful that the reviewer had such a positive experience.

While traveling in SE Asia, Sri Sunari was our favorite place to stay. We stayed on three different occasions during October 2004 thru January 2005 and each time Nyoman, Putu and the entire staff treated us like family. Putu is a fabulous cook and for a few dollars she cooked a duck that was the best duck on the planet.... more

We were lucky to be joined by three other couples (from Australia, Laos and Jakarta) at Sri Sunari in the midst of a trip through Southeast Asia. So we had the whole place to ourselves which meant, among other things, that we had the undivided attention of the amazing staff who live on site. We therefore had all the help... more

Sri Sunari was absolutely beautiful, as well as a terrific, amazing value. It calls itself the "guest house in a rice field," and they aren't kidding. Quite literally, there are only 4 guest rooms (each very clean and comfortable, with its own private western bathroom and its own veranda/outdoor sitting porch) on the property, which also includes a beautiful garden... more
