My wife and I stayed here recently because we received a gift certificate for the Essential Spa package. The grounds are very nice, and the room was spacious. But the place has deferred maintenance problems, for sure. More importantly, we thought the quality of the food was really poor (and not worth the cost). We had a lunch and a... more

My initial contact with the resort started off on the wrong foot, but they made up for it later. I am a travel agent and called the resort for an industry rate. I was quoted a rate and, although this trip is an ongoing event for our group, some of the ladies who were not going to attend decided to... more

This was our third visit to RV and it is one of our favorite places to really get away. If you're expecting a high activity resort with a lot of people, RV isn't for you. The rooms and grounds are beautiful. The rooms are in casitas with even the basic room having a ton of space, a huge bathroom and... more

We stayed for 2 nights in a grove suite. This is a small hotel, without a lot of facilities- or employees. The grounds and landscaping are beautiful and well maintained. We enjoyed the tennis program, but be aware this is a small hotel, the teaching is nowhere close to a top tennis resort like Kiawah or Ponte Vedre. The restaurant... more

Very average resort for the price. When paying $600 a night I expect to be waited on hand and foot and outstanding customer service. We pay these rates or less for 5 star properties in Vegas, Maui, and NYC. Overall, the rooms are clean and 'ok' in decor. Our room faced a parking lot and was musty. The decor was... more

My husband and I were a bit perplexed when we arrived because there was no valet nor bell staff and we weren't sure where the front desk even was. I am glad to say that once we found out where to go, the stay improved. (They really need a better welcome to the resort though). The front desk was courteous... more

I just returned from this beautiful place. My two children (teenagers) and I spent a week at Rancho Valencia. Our garden suite, the smaller suite option, but by no means small, was beautiful--two queen beds on the upper level divided by a low wall from the living area. Our terrace surrounded by pink and coral flowers draped over a wall... more

Found the resort through some great reviews online. We were looking for a not-to-far-away getaway that would feel like we were a million miles away. We found it in Rancho Valencia. Great overall stay. A spacious, nicely furnished, comfortable room; a relaxing restaurant and bar; rarely running into other guests; a nice spa; proximity to Del Mar and La Jolla... more

The service at this resort is excellent, from the moment you arrive to the time you (sadly) depart. While beautiful Del Mar is just a short distance away, you will be very tempted not to leave the property, or perhaps not even to leave your spacious casita. The rooms are first class. The food is excellent, and you will meet... more

Rancho Valencia Resort and Spa is actually one of the few resorts that does not charge lots of extra fees. We have no Resort Fee. We offer all of the following complimentary: parking, high-speed Internet, WiFi, fitness center, The Spa and its facilities, morning orange juice, coffee and newspaper, use of the tennis courts, bicycles, and more. The fees referred...

Very nice property, great staff and fantastic food. I'd like to give this resort a 4 1/2-star rating, but that wasn't an option so I went with the 4 star instead. The main reason I steered clear of a 5-star rating was that I have a hard time considering a Spanish hacienda-style property on par with some of the truly... more
