We booked last minute as we had just checked out of Bovey Castle in disgust. They are very close about 7 miles in distance but worlds apart in class. Quite simply this was the best hotel we have ever stayed in and the food is superb. The staff are brilliant and make you feel very special, the setting is beautiful... more

Truly a 5 star hotel worthy of its status! I might be biased as we stayed here after a surprise proposal but if you could find fault with the place I would be astounded. The location, the rooms, the service, a restaurant to die for and stunning grounds make it the perfect hotel. Thank god we still had a weeks... more

My husband and I went to Gidleigh Park for Sunday lunch with 2 friends and it was astoundingly good. The staff are delightful, friendly without being obsequious, attentive but not a nuisance and very professional. The food was out of this world. I am now desperate to go back and stay overnight (maybe for my birthday?!) so let's hope my... more

Gidleigh is all it is cracked up to be. We stayed just one night as a pampering break and we were pampered. We had a Master room at the front of the property and it was delightful. On arrival the staff are friendly and not at all aloof and that friendly but very efficient feel continued throughout and in all... more

I took my husband down to Gidleigh for a birthday surprise in May. We only spent a Saturday night (worth checking with the hotel whether they can waive their two-night stay only at weekends policy), but boy was it worth the trek from Hampshire! As you'll see from other reviews, the setting was stunning, up a long, winding lane, which... more

A surprise birthday treat for my girlfriend, booked as a result of reading the reviews on this site - and boy where we NOT disappointed. The views all around the hotel are spectacular and very scenic, and this is complimented by the gentle sounds of the stream running through the grounds and the immaculate pitch & putt along with the... more

My girlfriend and I stayed at Gidleigh Park for one night as a suprise on our way down to Cornwall, and even though I had read the reviews here and had looked at the pictures, once we arrived even I was amazed at just how picturesque it was. After a mile and a half driving down a small lane, it... more

My wife and I have just spent a wonderful 3 days at Gidleigh Park. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds with splendid gardens and the water garden is particularly impressive, The North Teign river tumbles across rocks along the bottom of the lawns and there is a spectacular 18 hole putting course designed by Peter Alliss with water hazards,... more

Fantasic Food ,Service and Location This was quality all the way. In a splendid location and the 45 acre grounds are superb. The staff are excellent and could not do enough to make you feel welcome. The General Manager Sue invited us into the kitchen and this was a real experience for us. We were also taken down to have... more

Had been aware of this hotel for many years and Michael Caines I knew to be a well regarded chef but we were knocked out by the setting up this very long narrow lane and whilst we were there didnt leave the place. Although it was a cloudy February when we stayed on our wedding anniversary the grounds and setting... more
