Have just returned from a weekend at the Old Rectory ; Huw and Sam were exceptional hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Hotel is beautifully situated with charming gardens; food was all locally sourced , delicious yet unpretentious. Dinner and breakfast were cooked to order and served remarkably promptly. No cardboard toast or nasty little pots of marmalade here! Beds... more

We stayed at the Old Rectory on 29th and 30th October 08, for the sixth time - yes, we like it a lot! It's in a perfect location if you like Exmoor walking, dramatic scenery and a peaceful time. The hotel owners, Huw and Sam, offer a warm welcome and a personal but not intrusive service. The atmosphere is country... more

A party of ten of us had a delightful four night stay at the Old Rectory Hotel earlier this month. The new owners, Huw and Sam, are perfect hosts and made us feel really at home. One cooks the breakfast and the other the dinner and the results were delicious, with plenty of choices. We liked the building and garden... more

My husband and I stayed at the Old Rectory Hotel for our first anniversary for just one night. We would have liked to stay an extra night but they could not accomodate us arriving late in the evening (don't really know what they do with people who work coming from far away). We arrived at a relatively decent time of... more

A wonderful hotel in a wonderful location, my wife and I were looking for a few days break from the routine and we more than found it with Huw and Sam. They made us feel so welcome, the room was clean and comfortable with a sea view (if only the clouds had lifted), and the food, both breakfast and dinner... more

This is a wonderful find owned by the charming hosts ,Huw and Sam . Lovely garden, immaculate rooms and a very warm welcome. Breakfast was excellent with all local produce and dinner on Saturday in the elegant dining room was simply superb. Four lovely courses again with local produce including grapes from their own vine. Try the homemeade ginger marmalade,... more

We have just returned from a fantastic 3 night stay at The Old Rectory, where Sam and Hew made our stay such a relaxed and memorable one. We drove along the winding and windy road a bit disappointed as we thought we had missed afternoon tea. Upon arriving at the picturesque hotel we perked up with the welcome we received... more

We had already stayed at the hotel for a week in May 2008 and met Huw and Sam the new owners. They couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Everything is done to perfection starting straight away with a warm welcome. The hotel stands in beautiful private grounds is well furnished with an elegant decor in keeping with the age... more
