Found the deal on hotwire for $56 a night. Supposedly a 3 star hotel on hotwire, however, it should be more like a 2 star hotel. As mentioned before, the hotel is undergoing a renovation and the rooms themselves aren't too bad. The lobby still progress at work. In addition the hotel experienced some damage from Hurrican Ike. As others have said, this hotel is undergoing an extensive rennovation and upgrade to a Crowne Plaza. Apparently, the rooms are finished, but the lobby is not (although I didn't see any work in the elegant lobby.) This hotel does not come close to the other "three star" hotels in the immediate vicinity. When staying in Houston, Greenway Plaza area has probably the most dated hotels in Houston. The Holiday Inn Select near Greenway Plaza is a pretty nice hotel. I stayed there to take someone to MD Anderson. They have a free shuttle to MD Anderson that runs pretty regularly. The Holiday Inn Greenway Plaza is conveniently located for access to downtown/Rice Village area. The hotel itself is very standard for the Holiday Inn Select category, I did find it a bit noisy at night since the hotel is located so close to a freeway. more
