We have had 16 holidays in Madeira since 1990, and varied where we stayed. Then we tried the Riu Palace. On our first visit we were delayed because of fog in Exeter, and arrived at 10pm at the hotel. We received such a warm welcome, and were directed to the restaurant, where a meal had been prepared for 6 of... more

We went to the Riu Palace to celebrate my husbands 60th Birthday and found the hotel first class. I had emailed them beforehand and when we arrived, there was a bottle of champagne in the bedroom. The next day there was another bottle of champagne on his birthday! We loved the location as we really enjoyed the peace and quiet... more

Excellent in every aspect. Lots of variety at meal times. As others have mentioned you do have to choose between 2 sittings for your evening meal and often get seated with others. The pool was lovley but a little breezy at times (you can hire dressing gowns from reception for 1.50 euro a day) which I found a help! The... more

Just returned from a week at the Riu Palace. The hotel lived up to all the positive reviews previously posted here. Could not find a negative about the hotel but would just comment that the food is 'plentiful and good', but not exceptional. The staff were excellent, extremely helpful, cheerful and courteous at all times. Would certainly return again. more

Couldn't have chosen a nicer place. Cannot fault this hotel, absolutely fantastic, the staff just can't do enough for you. The food was lovely, the... more

My husband and I stayed here at approx. the same time last year and really loved it, but unfortunately I never got round to writing the review. This year we took my father-in-law, it was his first time overseas, first time... more
