We live in Anchorage and do not have a need to stay in the hotels very often but when we had several friends come to town for New Year's Eve we decided to stay in one centralized location. We were able to get a suite at this property with 3 rooms for around $330/night. Our suite included a living room... more

I stayed at this hotel for over a week in 2007. The decorations are a bit dark for my taste, but the hotel staff were very helpful and the restaurant was fine, particularly at breakfast. There are places to shop at the hotel and it is conveniently located to several good dining locations in downtown Anchorage. more

My friend and I travelled to Anchorage from Ireland on our way to a remote fishing lodge in south west Alaska. We stayed at the Captain Cook Hotel for two nights to allow are body clocks to catch up before the fishing trip began. We booked the hotel in September 2007 for arrival July 2008. When they checked us in... more

We stayed one night at the very end of August 2008 based on the recommendation of our travel agent. We had a small suite on the 3rd floor. Did not have a view but that was okay. This hotel is frequented by cruise line guests and is within walking distance of several restaurants. Most of the restaurants were particularly crowded... more

Beautiful hotel. Room was very clean. Front desk receptionist was a little out of it and kept forgetting to tell us things. One key card didn't work--so had to revisit front desk to have it re-keyed. View from room was great and room was clean. Housekeep cleaned room next door at 6am! Vacuum woke us up...couldn't get back to sleep.... more

We kept checking on the price of the hotel for weeks before we arrived. Finally 3 days before we left we called and YES!! They had rooms for $125.00. We arrived early to the hotel and it was raining. We had rented a car and used the valet parking. This will be an extra charge. We were excepting our room... more

The rooms are a little small, but the beds were comfortable, the room was spotless, the amenities were high quality, and the staff was attentive, responsive, and efficient. The lounges and restaurants were excellent. The hotel also has several gift and clothing shops, as well as a full-service salon and spa. Within walking distance of all downtown shops, restaurants, bars,... more

My wife and I stayed on two occasions and it became one of our favourite hotels in the world. It did a great deal to make anchorage one of our favourite towns. Stephane? at reception was particularly helpful. It is worth taking a corner suite and try a different corner each visit. We have stayed in other hotels in the... more

We stayed in the Captain Cook for the last night of our Princess Cruise Tour. We found the hotel to be very nice. Beds were extremely comfortable, pizza at Fletchers very good, and service generally very helpful and given with a smile. We would definitely recommend this hotel. If you get a chance go have dinner, or better yet a... more

I have stayed at The Cook more than 8 times over the past year and i keep coming back. It is a member of the Preferred Network and the service is always excellent. Some of the reviews mentioning the age of the hotel are fairly accurate. Now to the breakdown: Pros: Location Excellent Service Amenities Restaurants Free Wireless Internet (as... more
