Stayed here over spring break 2007. We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa and that was a great set-up with 2 teenagers. There are two bedrooms on the second floor and one on the 3rd floor with 2 twin beds. It really gave the kids some privacy. Each bedroom has a bathroom and there is a powder room on the main floor. Suite has a kitchen and modest selection of dishes and kitchen utensils. Cooked fish one night on the grill and it was a little difficult with the equipment available, but doable.

Great location on Cable Beach - easy getting anywhere by jitney bus ($1 per trip). Pool was nice and the beach, although small, was fine and there was an opportunity to snorkel off the beach and find starfish, conch shells and some fish. Staff were reserved but nice.

Downside is the resort is showing it's age. Some things in the unit were in disrepair:missing cold water handle in master bath, screen doors on patio doors were almost inoperable, mold on some bathroom tile, etc. Asked to have faucet handle fixed, but never happened (I switched it w/powder room faucet and that worked fine).

We would stay again - overall it was great for our needs and in a great location. Avoid the Thursday night dinner at the bar - overpriced and only average in quality.

Guanahani Village was a decent resort with very spacious villas. The space showed its age (26 years). The beach was small but adequate and the pool area was very nice. Cleanliness was not the issue just that things were a bit outdated and the space was not built with the highest craftmenship. If your looking for a 5 star resort I would recommend the Sandels or the Breezes down the road. Guanahani was about 15 minutes by bus outside of Nassau, really not a problem. Beware, the groceries if you prepare your own food are extremely expensive. ex.) 1 gallon of milk is 5 bucks. Nassau is a beautiful city and if you are looking for a decent place to stay then I believe that Guanahani will offer you that, but if you are looking for a 5 star resort then I would steer you in another direction. They will be remodelling the resort and renaming it the Blue Water Resort. So it may be different.

“A Disappointment”

Blue Water Resort at Guanahani Village

Sep 23, 2006

My family and I decided to stay at Guanahani Village because of the extra space a condo would give us. We found this resort through RCI, which is usually very good. Upon arriving, we were shocked to see the condition of the resort. The tennis court and pool were in disrepair, the units were in need of paint and of general maintinence, and the beach was non-existant at high tide. We requested an ocean view villa and were given a garden view villa. We started to unpack and noticed ants in the kitchen cupboards, water damage on the ceilings, and a ceiling patch found in the bathtub in one of the bathrooms leaving a hole in the ceiling exposed. The staff were very accomodating and moved us to a newer unit, which was ocean view. This unit seemed beter until it started to rain. There were major leaks in two of the three bedrooms which soaked more than a dozen towels, there was a pronounced ant problem, and more water damage. The pool was very dirty because a filter was broken. Our stay was a full week and by the time we left, the pool was still not in order. The beach was very small, lined with barbwire on one side and when high tide came in the sand all but disappeared.

“Waste of money”

Blue Water Resort at Guanahani Village

We took this place based on a recommendation of their website the Week of August 26- September 2, I took my family of 5, and 3 friends.

We stayed in Unit # 19 garden, we requested a ocean front and were told we could just request a ocean front when we arrived. We did and that's were the fun stopped! They told us to upgrade they needed an additional $ 300.00. Ice and Bottle water were extra, maid service was an additional $ 82.50 per DAY!

The unit was WORN, the carepting was old and ripped, the stove back left burner shorted out and shot a fireball across the kitchen, the sink leaked water all over the floor, the air-conditioning didn't work. They finally figued that out and removed the most disgusting air filter clogged with approximately 1/4 of dirt.

Thier Swimming pool was missing pieces of concrete and the had paint missing. The water quality was GREEN, and not the clear sea kind, you couldn't see the bottom of the pool. It remained this way the entire week.

Do yourself a favor and look around and ask lots of questions before you settle for a poorly run and worn time share like this.

“Beautiful!!!!”

Blue Water Resort at Guanahani Village

Jul 8, 2006

We just got back from our first time in the Bahamas and stayed at Guanahani Village. We had an OceanView Villa that faced the pool and ocean. It was just beautiful!!
The villa was so spacious. There was a living room and kitchen on the first floor and a patio that looks out to the ocean. Then with the master bedroom & second bedroom on the second floor and a third bedroom w/twin beds and a sundeck on the third floor. Each bedroom has its own bathroom too!Just right for our family. With enough beds and space for everyone.
You can take the #10 bus right out front of Guanahani Village and it will take you downtown to the Straw Maket or anywhere in between for $1 pp.It will also take you to the CityMarket for grocies or SuperValue grocery store(better store).Food is very expensive on the island so we packed a suitcase full from Walmart and brought it w/us and bought our refrigerator things there. They do have a patio w/a BBQ and the washer & dryer came in handy.
The beach is small, but ,nice!,If your looking for excitment go somewhere else.If you want to go to the Bahamas and relax by the pool and enjoy the beach this it the place for you!!
Bring you own snorkle gear you can snorkle right off the beach....also we HIGHLY recommend the "Sea Island Adventures" tour!!Its a 3 for 1 price.Snorkle trip on a pirvate island(ROSE ISLAND) Beach escape-lay out or use they're kayak, paddle boats, tubes.Picnic BBQ all included in the price! There is an advertisement in the Bahamas hard cover book on the coffe table in the villas and mention the 10% discount off the price. It was absolutely beautiful!!!!
